2005 Honda Elite 80 Base

Intro

The 2005 Honda Elite 80 marked the twenty-third year the scooter was in production. It would also one of the last model years; its manufacturer, Japanese auto-making giant Honda, halted production in 2007. Available as a lone version, the 2005 Honda Elite 80 had a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $2,349.

Powering the 2005 Honda Elite 80 is a four-stroke, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine, which displaces at 80 cubic centimeters, hence the two-digit suffix. Each engine has a bore and stroke of 49.5 x 41.4 millimeters (1.95 x 1.63 inches) and a compression ratio of 9.3 to 1. Two intake valves go on the engine’s lone cylinder, and the engine is fueled by a 16-millimeter carburetor. An electric starter is included on each bike for convenient start-up.

The engine on the 2005 Elite 80 is paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission, which shifts through an infinite number of gear ratios for increased engine efficiency and fuel economy. A low-maintenance belt drive completes the powertrain of the 2005 Elite 80. The peak fuel capacity on the 2005 Elite 80 is 1.3 gallons (4.9 liters).

The 2005 Honda Elite 80 relies on drum brakes on its 10-inch steel wheels. Although not as effective as an all-wheel disc braking system or front-disc-brake rear-drum-brake set-up, it is nevertheless efficient enough. The suspension on each scooter consists of a leading link fork at the front and a single-sided swing arm with a shock absorber at the back.

With a solid steel frame, the 2005 Honda Elite 80 is designed as a half-fairing scooter: with a plastic shell covering its upper half, plus the conventional front and rear fenders. The scooter comes with a red or silver color scheme. A one-piece vinyl seat on the 2005 Elite 80 – set at a height of 29.7 inches (754.4 mm) – provides enough space for the driver and a passenger. A center stand provides parking ability.

A fuel level warning gauge can be found at the upper front of the 2005 Honda Elite 80, and a rear rack and lockable compartment comprise its storage space. Enhancing the driver’s visual perception when on the road are a halogen light and a pair of rearview mirrors. They are especially helpful for blind spots (mirrors) or driving at night (lighting).

The 2005 Honda Elite 80 is an entry-level scooter with the bare essentials. It might not be outstanding, especially when it comes to engine power or braking. However, the 2005 Elite 80 has more than enough to get the job done.
