2004 Suzuki Marauder 1600

Intro

For the 2004 model year, Japanese manufacturer Suzuki offered two models of one of its cruiser-inspired motorcycles: the Marauder 800 and the Marauder 1600.

The models of the 2004 Suzuki Marauder are named after their respective engine displacements: 805 cubic centimeters (cc) on the Marauder 800 and 1552 cc on the Marauder 1600. The engine on each model is a liquid-cooled, V-twin unit, with four intake valves on each cylinder. The bore and stroke and compression ratio of the engines are 3.27 by 2.93 inches (83 by 74 millimeters) and 10 to 1 on the Marauder 800, and 4.02 by 3.74 inches (102 by 95 mm) and 9 to 1 on the Marauder 1600.

Although each engine on the 2004 Suzuki Marauder is paired with a five-speed manual and is accompanied by an electric starter for the bike, the Marauder 1600 uses the fuel injection method, rather than relying on two 36-millimeter Mikuni carburetors like the Marauder 800. Also, the Marauder 1600 has a higher peak capacity, with a 4.5-gallon (17-liter) gas tank; the one on the Marauder 800 can hold up to 3.4 gallons (13 L) of fuel.

Available as a blue or black motorcycle, the 2004 Suzuki Marauder is made of steel and has a two-occupant seat set at a height of 27.6 inches (700 mm). A kick stand is provided for parking the bike. Storage consists of an under-seat compartment and a place to hang a helmet. Digital instrumentation comprises a tachometer, speedometer, and temperature warning light, with Suzuki adding a clock, trip odometer, and fuel level warning light on the Marauder 1600. Also standard on each 2004 Suzuki Marauder are a halogen headlight and a pair of rearview mirrors.

For braking, the 2004 Suzuki Marauder 800 uses a front disc brake and rear drum brake. The Marauder 1600, however, surpasses it in stopping power by having disc brakes on both wheels. The suspension on each bike consists of an inverted fork at the front and twin-sided swing arm at the back. Each 2004 Marauder rides on a pair of aluminum wheels. However, the Marauder 800 has a front 16-inch one and a rear 15-inch one, while the Marauder 1600 uses 17-inch wheels.

Each 2004 Suzuki Marauder 800 has a length of 93.1 inches (2362 mm), width of 29.5 inches (750 mm), height of 43.7 inches (1110 mm), and wheelbase of 64.8 inches (1645 mm). The physical measurements of the 2004 Suzuki Marauder 1600 include a 94.9-inch (2410.9-mm) length, 33.5-inch (850-mm) width, 43.3-inch (1100-mm) height, and 67.1-inch (1705-mm) wheelbase. The Marauder 800 has a dry weight of 456 pounds (207 kilograms); the 1600 is much heavier, with a dry weight of 637 pounds (290 kilograms.

Go for the Marauder 1600 version of the 2004 Suzuki Marauder if you want more aggressiveness and power, sportier handling, and don’t mind the added weight. Either way, you can’t go wrong with this dynamic cruiser.
