The 2004 Harley-Davidson VRSC has two submodels. This includes the B V-Rod and the A V-Rod. Both models feature a sporty body style and 115/74 HP. However, the VRSCB V-Rod only had a two-year run. Mechanically, the two are identical with some cosmetic differences such as the black powder-coated engine, black frame and the polished aluminum. They also have slightly different handlebars, clamshells and instrument housing. Additionally, the VRSC B V-Rod only has forward controls.
VRSC motorcycles are among the offset range of liquid cooled Harley-Davidson bikes. They feature a V twin and 4-stroke engine configuration with premium fuel requirements. They run at 8500 Horsepower RPM with 7000 torque RPM but can rev up to 9000 if necessary. It is best that drivers pull between 4000 and 6000 RPM for a smooth ride in any gear. Their engine displacement to weight is 1.9cc. The VRSC has chrome aluminum wheels that measure 19 inches in diameter in front and 18 on the rear. VRSC B V-Rod is available in vivid black, anodized aluminum and racing orange colors. On the other hand, VRSC A V-Rod has two-tone Smokey Gold with Vivid Black, Lava Red Sunglo, Impact Blue, and two-tone Luxury Teal with Brilliant Silver.
These bikes have full 120/70 ZR 19 front tire specs while the rear is 180/55 ZR18. Both tires come from Dunlop with a Z rating. VRSCs have a front and rear brake diameter of 11.5 inches. However, the front brakes are dual disc while the rear is a single disc.
VRSC seats are not adjustable. They come with a standard detachable passenger seat and grab strap or rail. Heated seats, seat rails and seat tail covers are not available. This bike can accommodate one passenger only. Drivers with shorter legs may have a problem with the seat height as it is not adjustable. Its lowest setting is 26 inches or 660mm.
These motorcycles are made with an aluminum frame. The construction, exterior covers, front fender, hand drips, spoiler and stand all follow standard specifications. Unfortunately, there are no foot boards, front fender rails, lower and upper fairings, skid plates and turn signal visors. Harley-Davidson also added features like a fuel level warning, digital instrumentation, tachometer, speedometer, and trip odometer. An alarm immobilizer is standard for all Harleys. With this, owners can be confident in their vehicle’s safety and security.
VRSC also has standard lockable storage and under seat storage. The 2004 Harley-Davidson VRSC shows that less is more. It comes with limited features to allow owners more room for customization. Harley makes this model as a blank canvas in order to let owners show off their own personality. The BMW R1200C is among the VRSC’s main competitor. It features the super smooth flat-twin power. Another rival is the Triumph Rocket III that competes with the 2004 Harley-Davidson VRSC when it comes to power and performance with its 2.3 liter triple engine.
The VRSC gets 37 miles per gallon if run in the city and 47 miles per gallon on the highway. Buyers should also take note that this model has a 5.6 inch ground clearance. Its fuel capacity is 3.7 gallons, and the wheelbase measures 67.5 inches.
Owners can freely add the parts they want. There are OEM accessories designed for the VRSC such as leather saddlebags, billet analog clocks, low sissy bar uprights, sport wind deflectors, vinyl covered saddlebags, touring storm shields, luggage backrest pads and luggage racks.
